H1N1 (SWINE FLU) ALERT

HGSL Parents,

As I am sure you are all aware, many local agencies are taking precautions in how they deal with the H1N1 (Swine) Flu epidemic. We in HGSL would like to take the same type of precautions as well until the risk of spreading this virus is contained. With our organization as large as it is, I am looking for help with these precautions from all Managers, Assistants Coaches and Parents.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:

* If a child feels ill, they should not attend a practice or a game and should seek medical attention
* Temporary ban of all post-game handshakes
* Players should not be sharing their own equipment (gloves, bats) with others
* Reminder that all kids bring their own water and not to share that water with others
* Each family should please consider having hand sanitizer on hand  at the ball park.

* If your child or family member has been diagnosed with having the virus, please notify Bob Guessferd (HGSL Director) ASAP.

Thanks for your support in this matter and we all hope that this becomes a non event.

Bob Guessferd
HGSL Director

Welcome to Hudson Girls Softball League web site. The Hudson Girls Softball League provides a rewarding softball experience to both recreational and tournament softball players in Hudson, New Hampshire. It provides an environment for softball skill and character development for the benefit of all the young girls in the community. The program pulls together the community to provide the strongest program for our girls with the most value, without catering to individuals. It is governed by by-laws written by and supported by the Hudson community, and has served our community well for over 20 years.

The program emphasizes fun and provides for a great exchange of fellowship, sportsmanship and an all-important feeling of belonging and being a part of something worthwhile. The ASA has made an investment in the future of softball with its ever growing Junior Olympic program. Each year, more than one million boys and girls across the country play ASA Junior Olympic softball. ASA is a softball organization, not biased by baseball pre-conceived notions.

These programs help develop interest, skills and desire in a new generation of softball players - the ideals needed for these young people to excel individually and, ultimately, ensure the continued growth of the sport.

Our Spring recreational teams are open to all girls (grades K through 11) who reside in or go to school in Hudson NH.  All children who register to play in the recreational program are placed on a team.

Our tournament and travel teams often play year round. They participate in both indoor and outdoor "A" and "B" level ASA Junior Olympic fast pitch tournaments and leagues throughout the region. Our teams have won several prestigious tournaments, including ASA State and New England Regional championships and have placed well in National championship play. Our "A" level teams bring together great coaching and the strongest players from the region so that our Hudson Athletes have an opportunity to play competitive ball locally, even aspiring to play college ball. "B" level teams are oriented toward girls who participate in our recreation program but desire a higher level of competition and team play and to develop the skills needed to play the more competitive A ball. In combination they serve all our girls. Refer to the
Heat page for more information.

We are sponsored by many organizations in and around the Hudson area.  We would like to thank those organizations and individuals.  Please check out our sponsors.
